NJ Mom Accused in Infant's Fractured Skull

Ania Marcinkiewicz of Cedar Grove allegedly hurt her infant severely enough that the child sustained a fractured skull

A 35-year-old mother was arrested in New Jersey Tuesday, accused of assaulting her eight-week-old baby and failing to seek medical attention for the resulting injuries, authorities said.

Ania Marcinkiewicz of Cedar Grove allegedly hurt her infant severely enough that the child sustained a fractured skull, according to Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray. The assault happened between March 22 and March 23 at Marcinkiewicz's home, and the mother never sought treatment for the infant.

Marcinkiewicz was arrested on charges on second-degree aggravated assault and two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. She is being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility on $300,000 bail.

Marcinkiewicz's bail conditions required to surrender her passport and have no further contact with her baby, who is currently in the care of the Division of Youth and Family Services, according to the prosecutor's office.

It wasn't known if she has an attorney.
