A Newark, N.J. mother is accused of beating her five-year-old daughter to death on Mother's Day, authorities said.

Bianca K. Young, 24, has been charged with the murder of Charlize Young, prosecutors said.

Essex County prosecutors said the mother and her boyfriend brought the girl to the hospital around 11 p.m. on Sunday, and she was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

An autopsy revealed she died from "blunt impact injuries," prosecutors said. She had been struck and had injuries that caused internal bleeding.

Authorities have taken custody of Young's 4-year-old daughter. She is also pregnant with a third baby, prosecutors said.

Essex County officials could not immediately say whether Young had a lawyer.
