Federal prosecutors say a New Jersey man posed as a famous singer online to entice a girl overseas to engage in sexual activity.
Twenty-eight-year-old Eric Bing of Clark awaits an initial appearance in federal court in Newark on Thursday.
Bing is charged with enticing a child to engage in sexual activity.
According to the complaint, Bing posed as a singer with a band and started an online relationship with the then-14-year-old girl in 2008. Officials have not said who he was supposed to be.
Authorities say Bing made increasingly explicit sexual requests for the girl to send pictures and videos of herself between 2008 and 2010.
Prosecutors say the relationship ended after they say Bing revealed to the girl the person she knew as "Band Singer" was not a celebrity.
