NJ Man Busted for Beating $19,000 in EZPass Tolls

The man had two accounts with more than 300 violations

Port Authority cops busted a New Jersey man faking a toll payment at the George Washington Bridge -- and as it turned out, he owed more than $19,000 in unpaid tolls.

John Reynolds, 25, of Englewood, admitted to controlling two different EZPass accounts, one with 190 violations and the other with 115 violations.

Reynolds was caught Wednesday morning after an officer noticed him holding a cell phone in his hand while making a gesture that looked like holding an EZPass against his windshield.

He did not have a driver's license and admitted he did not have an EZPass either.

Reynolds faces theft of service and toll evasion charges.

He was the first of two significant toll-beating busts this week.

On Thursday, the same officer who busted Reyniolds caught Lucy Sanchez of North Plainfield allegedly going through a toll lane without paying.

Sanchez had a cancelled account with 149 violations worth nearly $9,500.

She also faces theft of service and toll evasion charges.
