Authorities say a New Jersey man allegedly shouted racial slurs and made death threats to his married neighbors.
Glen Miller, of Union Township, was re-arrested by officers last week after the charges agaisnt him were upgraded, Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park said. He was initially arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest March 7, but was released.
The 59-year-old was charged with third-degree making terroristic threats, harassment, and second- and fourth-degree bias intimidation, authorities said. He's also charged with third-degree criminal mischief.
An investigation by the Union Police Department uncovered a married couple reported to police that Miller allegedly parked his truck on the grass divider between the curb and the sidewalk directly in front of their home March 3, Union County Bias Crimes Assistant Prosecutor Shawn Barnes said.
Miller was issued a traffic summons by responding officers, but he continued to antagonize his neighbors.
Four days later, police were again called to the victims' home for the same reason and found his truck parked in the same place, Barnes said.
Authorities said Miller spewed expletives and racial slurs at the victims when they confronted him with police. On one occasion, he allegedly threatened to kill the female neighbor, prosecutors said.
