Family Devastated After They Say Dog Was Stolen in NYC

A New Jersey family is heartbroken after they say their 14-month-old dog was stolen from a truck during a delivery in New York City.

The all-white Maltese pup, named Angelo, lived with his owners, a couple in Hillsborough, until his disappearance last week.

The couple said Angelo the dog is “really more like our baby” and that they spent much of the weekend hanging photos of him in the area where he went missing.

Angelo was in the back of a truck Thursday afternoon as his owner made a delivery on Jerome Avenue in Fordham Heights in the Bronx.

When his owner returned, Angelo was gone and it appeared someone had stolen him from the back of the cab, police confirmed. A GPS was also allegedly stolen from the vehicle.

The dog had an identification tag with the owner’s phone number on it.

Someone called the owner a short time later to say that the dog was being sold and asked if he was willing to pay $200 to get the dog back, the family said.

The owner agreed and got the money but never heard back from the person who called.

A report has been filed with police.

Angelo was last seen wearing a red, white and blue harness.
