Authorities say a New Jersey police officer allegedly attached a hidden GPS tracking device on his ex-girlfriend's vehicle without permission so he could track her whereabouts.
Police arrested Vache Assadourian, of Ringwood, on invasion of privacy and stalking charges, Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced Thursday.
The Fairview police officer allegedly placed a GPS tracking device on his former girlfriend's vehicle in January without permission, which she later discovered, Grewal said.
An investigation revealed Assadourian had been tracking the woman for three months using the device and had disclosed private information of her personal life without consent, prosecutors said.
The 35-year-old was served a summons Thursday and was charged with one count of invasion of privacy and one count of stalking, prosecutors said.
Assadourian's next court date is scheduled for April 12.
The Fairview Chief of Police wasn't able to immediately respond to a request for comment.
