Twitter Video of Incident Involving Jets Players at Governors Ball Being Looked At: NFL

The NFL is looking into an incident last weekend involving Jets players Darron Lee and Leonard Williams at the Governors Ball Music Festival.

Lee and Williams were attending the music festival on Randall's Island on Saturday night when Williams was seen on a video, posted on Twitter by an eyewitness, stepping in front of a man who appears to be Lee, and then briefly lifting and forcibly removing him from a possible altercation.

Details surrounding the incident are unclear, and police were not involved. On Tuesday, Jets coach Todd Bowles said he had no plans to discipline Lee, the team's first-round pick last year out of Ohio State.

"He had an argument with his girlfriend," Bowles said. "What do you want me to discipline him (for)? ... He had an argument with his girlfriend, and somebody took a photo."

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said the league is reviewing the incident, which could fall under the personal conduct policy.

The Jets had previously said only that they were aware of the reports and were also looking into the specifics of the situation. Neither Lee nor Williams was made available to the media after practice Tuesday.

Bowles said that he still hadn't seen the video, but had spoken to "about 10 people" about the incident.

"I got the stories from everybody," he said. "As far as I was concerned, you don't want that stuff to happen. Obviously, with social media going on these days, they've got to take better care of themselves. Darron understands that and we had a long talk and we'll move forward from there."

Bowles complimented Williams for stepping in and possibly saving Lee from getting into more trouble.

"It's a good role as a friend," Bowles said, "and then it's a good role as a teammate. That's fine. I'm good with that."
