New Jersey Music Teacher Who Raped Girl at Piano Lessons Gets Prison

A 64-year-old northern New Jersey music teacher convicted of raping an 8-year-old girl is heading to prison.

The Jersey Journal reports Henry Granderson was sentenced Friday to 34 years behind bars. He was found guilty in September of sexually assaulting the girl between 2011 and 2013. He faces trial on similar charges in a separate case.

Granderson told the court he had been maliciously prosecuted. But Superior Court Judge Joseph Isabella says Granderson isn't a good person and is never going to get out jail to "victimize a little girl again."

Granderson operated the 676 School of Violin and Fine Arts in Jersey City, where the girl says she was sexually assaulted every time she went for piano lessons.

He won't be eligible for parole until he's 94.
