Six people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a two-car crash in Brooklyn early Friday, and one of the people hurt was arrested in connection with the accident, police say.

Two of the people were listed in critical condition, including the man who was arrested, and four were listed in serious condition after the wreck around midnight at Avenue J and East 85th Street in Canarsie.

The smash-up left pieces of shredded bumper on the road and scattered bricks and debris on the sidewalk. Yellow crime scene tape stretched across the crash site as police investigated.

Charges are pending against the arrested man, who is being treated for critical injuries at Brookdale Hospital, police said.
