One person was injured in a four-alarm fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon in an Upper West Side building, fire officials say.
According to the FDNY, the fire broke out on the third floor of a seven-story building on 101st Street at around 12:41 p.m.
One serious, but non-life threatening injury was reported, according to fire officials. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai St. Luke's.
The fire was declared under control within about two hours. Images from the scene showed thick black smoke emanating from the upper floors of the building. Windows in the building shattered. Once the flames were out, a dark, charred streak stretched up the building, from window to window, for several floors.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
