A Bronx woman accused of throwing her newborn daughter out of a window told authorities she thought the baby was dead.
The Daily News reports that according to court documents, Jennifer Berry told investigators that the girl was "grayish" and didn't appear to be breathing.
Berry was in court Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and manslaughter.
Authorities say the 33-year-old woman knew the baby was alive when she threw her from the seventh floor into an alley below on Sept. 29. The medical examiner said the baby died from blunt force trauma in the fall, meaning she was born alive.
Authorities said Berry's family and friends didn't know she was pregnant.
