Mother Arrested for DWI After Crash with Toddler in Car

Police say a Long Island mother was driving drunk with her 2-year-old daughter in the car when they got into a crash on Thanksgiving.

Kayona Rozzell, 30, was awaiting arraignment Friday on "Leandra's Law" charges after her arrest for driving while intoxicated and child-endangerment, cops said.

Suffolk County police say Rozzell's 2000 Dodge hit a 2000 Cheverolet traveling alongside her on North 18th Street in Wyandanch around 9:15 p.m. Thursday.

Rozzell’s daughter was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with minor injuries, officials said.  Rozzell and the two occupants of the Chevy were not injured.

The child was released into the custody of family members.

In a separate case, police say a 36-year-old father was arrested in Levittown Wednesday for driving drunk with his 8-year-old daughter in the front seat.

He faces a charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated.
