A woman has been arrested on drunken driving charges after causing a crash on Long Island with her two children in the car, police said Saturday.
The 44-year-old was driving with her two sons, ages 9 and 12, on Friday afternoon when she veered into oncoming traffic on the Babylon Turnpike and crashed head-on into a car being driven by a 21-year-old woman, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
The 21-year-old was taken to a hospital with multiple injuries, police said. The 44-year-old was treated for minor injuries and arrested on charges including vehicular assault, aggravated driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said. It wasn't immediately clear if she had a lawyer.
The children weren't hurt and were being taken care of by a relative.
