Brooklyn Woman Texts Mom, “I'm Scared,” Vanishes: NYPD

Dana Lauren Bonanno was last seen July 22

Police are looking for a Brooklyn woman who disappeared shortly after texting her mother that she was "scared."

Her mother said Dana Lauren Bonanno sent the disturbing text around 11 p.m. on July 22. She had last been seen by her roommates in Greenpoint, where she lives. Police declared her as missing on Saturday.

The missing woman's mother, Donna O'Connor, told police the text she received from her 33-year-old daughter about being frightened was the only one she received. She did not receive any text from her daughter explaining why she was scared, according to The Journal News.

Bonanno attended Carmel High School in Putnam County and was part of a music promotion group.

According to The Journal News, Bonanno lost her job as a paralegal at A&E Networks in April. She had previously worked as a legal secretary for a White Plains law firm for several years.

Both Bonanno's mother and close friends told the website disappearing for any stretch of time is not typical behavior for her.

Friends and family set up a Facebook page to post updates as the search continues.
