Girl, 16, Missing From NY Home Was Wearing Pajamas, No Coat: Cops

Police are looking for a 16-year-old missing Westchester girl they say was last seen outside her home wearing pajamas and no coat.

Ji Woo Kang, also known as Christine Kang, was last seen by her family at her home on Robin Hill Road in Greenburgh at about 8 p.m. Friday, according to police. She was then seen on a surveillance video entering a southbound Scarsdale Metro-North train at about 10:20 p.m.

School officials say she is in 11th grade at Edgemont Junior-Senior High School in Scarsdale. She did not show up for class Monday morning.

Police say that Kang left the home after an argument with her family. She had left the home after fights before, police say, but usually returned a short time later.

Police say that they searched the area over the weekend with police dogs, and have alerted residents in the area to be on the look out for the girl. Crews expanded the search perimeter Monday, and the Westchester Police Department's aviation unit was called in to comb the area from the sky.

Kang is described as being 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair and was last seen wearing a green flannel shirt, pajama pants and UGG boots. The school said she wasn’t wearing a jacket.

The school said in a letter to parents that counselors, school psychologists and administrators would be on hand Monday to talk with students and parents.

“We know this is a difficult situation for our community, and we will work together to support our students and each other through this challenge,” the school said in the letter.

Anyone with information about Kang’s whereabouts is asked to call the Greenburgh Police Department at 914-682-5300.
