Cops Find Body of Missing Scarsdale Doc in Bronx

55-year-old woman had been missing since Sunday

The body of a Scarsdale doctor has been found by divers in waters off the Bronx, police say.

The cause of death has yet to be determined.

The doctor, 55-year-old Mona Shimshi was reported missing on Sunday by her husband after she never returned home from afternoon errands. Her 2008 Honda was found Tuesday in a remote wooded area on the edge of Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx.

Scarsdale Detective Lt. Bryant Clark said Wednesday that Shimshi's body was found by New York Police Department divers in Eastchester Bay not far from where her car was spotted.

City police said the car was locked and there was no obvious sign of foul play.

The NYPD said the city medical examiner would determine the cause of death.

Shimshi practiced endocrinology and internal medicine in the Bronx and at Bridgeport Hospital in Connecticut. The mother of two reportedly has bipolar disorder and was taking medication to regulate her moods, according to the Daily News.
