Police Search for Missing Long Island Artist, 92

Police are searching for a 92-year-old Long Island artist who has Alzheimer's disease.

Authorities issued a silver alert Saturday for Laszlo "Leslie" Tar, a respected artist whose watercolors have hung in museums in Rome and Budapest. They said he may be in the New York City area.

Suffolk County police say he was last seen leaving his Halesite home around 2:45 p.m. Friday.

He was last seen wearing a royal blue polo shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.

A website dedicated to Tar's artwork says he's completed more than 5,000 watercolors, oils, woodcuts and drawings. Many depict life in the New York area.

Police ask anyone with information on Tar's location to call 911 or 631-854-8243.
