Bloomberg: Now Not the Time for Obama NYC Visit

Bloomberg: the city would "love to have him, but we've got lots of things to do"

President Barack Obama will be getting a look at the damage done by the superstorm in New Jersey but not in New York City -- and Mayor Michael Bloomberg is OK with that.

Bloomberg says he spoke to Obama and his chief of staff on Tuesday and told them the city would "love to have him, but we've got lots of things to do."

The White House say the president and his chief of staff asked Bloomberg if he agreed with their assessment that Wednesday wouldn't be the right time to visit.

The White House typically coordinates with local officials before traveling to a disaster zone. It wants to ensure law enforcement and emergency management assets aren't being drawn away from the disaster response.
