Officials Probe Suspicious Package Report on Metro-North Train

Passengers were taken off the train to assist the investigation.

Authorities are investigating a report of a suspicious package on a Metro-North train.

The westbound train was stopped in Pelham at about 2:15 p.m. because of the report. Passengers were taken off the train to assist the investigation, the MTA said.

The investigation was still in process by 2:50 p.m.

The train had been scheduled to reach Grand Central Station at 2:41 p.m. It departed New Haven at 12:57 p.m.

The MTA said that if the investigation is brief, passengers will be put back on the train and continue to New York City.

If it will take some time, authorities will try to put the passengers on a passing train.
