20 Displaced After Blaze Tears Through Long Island Condo Complex: Police

As many as 20 people were displaced after a blaze gutted parts of a condominium complex on Long Island early on Friday, police say.

Heavy flames tore through the Villages West complex on Brattle Circle in Melville at about 1:30 a.m. Flames shot from the roof of one of the buildings, which Suffolk County police is heavily damaged.

The flames were brought under control within a few hours. No injuries were reported in the fire.

The cause of the blaze wasn’t immediately known, but the Suffolk County Police Department’s arson squad is at the scene.

It’s not clear if foul play was involved in the blaze.
