Poll: De Blasio's Approval Holds Steady

A new poll says Mayor Bill de Blasio's approval rating has held steady despite a tumultuous summer for the city.

A Quinnipiac University survey released Tuesday finds that 50 percent of voters approved of de Blasio's job performance.

That is down a tick from 51 percent on June 11.

Since that poll was conducted, a budget deal was struck, de Blasio vacationed in Italy and the city was roiled by the death of a black Staten Island man who was placed in an illegal chokehold by a white police officer.

There is a racial divide to de Blasio's support.

Sixty-five percent of black voters support him while only 36 percent of whites do.

The survey of 1,021 voters has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.
