Massive NJ Blaze Leaves 40 Homeless

Cause of huge fire remains unclear

Firefighters came to the rescue of two people who were trapped in a blazing building in New Jersey this morning.

Authorities got a call about a three-alarm fire on William Street in East Orange just after 12 a.m. Flames were leaping through the roof of the three-story brick building.

Nearly three dozen people had to shack up in a shelter at a nearby school because the fire made their homes uninhabitable.

One person was taken to University Hospital with minor injuries.

No firefighters were hurt.

It's not clear what caused the early morning fire. An investigation is underway.
