Prosecutors say the men who died had been ejected from their vehicle

Two men died and three other people were seriously hurt in a two-car crash in a quiet northern New Jersey neighborhood Tuesday evening.

Essex County Prosecutor's Office Chief of Detectives Anthony Ambrose tells The Star-Ledger that the two men who died were ejected from their vehicle when the cars collided near South Fourth Street and Essex Avenue in Maplewood around 10 p.m. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two people riding with the dead men were injured, along with one person in another vehicle. Ambrose says they were taken to the hospital in serious condition.
