Brooklyn NYPD Precinct Joins in on ‘Mannequin Challenge' Craze

Add the NYPD's 61st Precinct to the growing list of organizations freezing in time to join in on the viral "mannequin challenge."

A video posted to the Brooklyn police precinct's Twitter account showed cops, administrators, visitors and even one person posing as a cuffed crime suspect for the video set to the theme song for the Eddie Murphy film series "Beverly Hills Cop."

In the tweet for the video, the precinct challenged the 60th precinct to replicate the feat.

The mannequin challenge appears to have originated in a Jacksonville, Florida, high school,  and requires participants to hold a frozen pose while a camera man walks through a scene. Typically, the song also features the song "Black Beatles" by the hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd.

The video trend took off almost immediately, with sports teams, celebrities, schools and organizations across the country posting their own renditions.

The Cleveland Cavaliers filmed one video during a visit to the White House to celebrate their NBA Championship on Thursday featuring a cameo from First Lady Michelle Obama.

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton also appeared in a similar video on Election Day aboard her campaign plane with Jon Bon Jovi, former President Bill Clinton and several staffers.

Even kindergartners got in on the craze. One class at Apple Montessori in Towaco, New Jersey, did an Election Day video where students froze while staging different parts of the voting process.
