A transformer fire was burning in Chelsea Thursday evening. Flames could be seen shooting from the manhole on 25th Street between 6th and 7th avenues.

A transformer fire has been extinguished in Chelsea after a manhole exploded, fire officials say. 

Earlier, flames could be seen shooting from the manhole on 25th Street between 6th and 7th avenues.

There were no evacuations, and no one was injured.
