Authorities are evaluating nearby buildings as a safety precaution after a manhole exploded in the Bronx, fire officials said.

The FDNY received a call about the explosion on East 149th Street just before noon Thursday. The manhole was still smoking nearly an hour later.

No injuries or power outages have been reported.

Consolidated Edison has been called to the scene.
