NYPD Searches for Knife-Wielding Suspect in SoHo, East Village Robberies

The NYPD is searching for a knife-wielding suspect following a string of armed robberies at a number of shops in SoHo and the East Village within the last month.

Police are also searching for a second man who they say was with the first suspect during a robbery at Goldwater Boutique on Jan. 21.

During the Goldwater Boutique robbery, the suspect with the knife entered the store while the other waited outside, police said. The first suspect stole $240 in cash before fleeing with the other suspect.

Police connected six robberies to the pattern. In all the heists, which occured between Jan. 21 and Feb. 23, they say the suspect displayed a knife and demanded money.

In addition to the boutique store, police say he hit two clothing stores on Elizabeth and Mott streets, an art gallery on Mott Street, a chocolate store on East Fourth Street and a luxury beauty products store on Spring Street. He made off with cash in all of the robberies except one, stealing about $1,220 from the six stores.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls are confidential. Tips can also be left at the NYPD Crime Stoppers website.
