Mustang Driver Dies in Montauk Highway Crash, 2nd Driver Extricated and Flown to Hospital: Police

A Long Island man was killed in a horrific accident that left two cars mangled on Montauk Highway early Thursday morning. 

A man driving a 2015 Ford Mustang eastbound on Montauk Highway swerved into the opposite lane and crashed into a 2009 Ford Focus at S. Country Road around 2:15 a.m. in Brookhaven, according to police.

The 45-year-old driver of the Mustang, Gregory Goodley of Shirley, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the Focus, 22-year-old Rebecca Davis, had to be extricated from her vehicle and was flown by medical helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital. 

Video from the scene shows a heavy emergency response presence and two cars completely destroyed on the side of the road. Montauk Highway was shut down for a period of time as police investigated. 

The investigation is continuing.
