Man With Cane Tried to Lure Kids Near School in Rockland: Police

Police in Rockland County are investigating a report of a third attempted luring of a child in recent weeks.

A man was seen walking on Church Street in Nanuet, near Highview Elementary School on Monday afternoon, and allegedly called to children in the back woods, "Come here," according to police.

An afterschool program counselor called police, who searched the area but could not find the man.

He's described as being in his late 30s to 40s with a dark receding hairline, and was wearing a red plaid shirt and carrying a neon-colored stick or cane.

Late last month, a man pulled up into a driveway in West Nyack and tried talking a 5-year-old boy into his car, according to police. And in South Nyack, a 16-year-old girl said she was approached by a man in a tan minivan.

It's not clear if the cases are connected.
