Man Who Set Fire to Thruway Salt Shed Arrested: Police

A man who set fire to a New York State Thruway salt shed in Larchmont on Tuesday has been arrested, police said.

Richard Cass, a 54-year-old Thruway electrician, was at the salt shed after business hours and “recklessly” started a fire that destroyed the shed and several pieces of Thruway equipment, New York State Police said.

Cass was charged with Arson and was released on an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 31.

It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
