Westchester Man Who Raped Child Gets Prison Again for Brutal Spate of Attacks on Women

A man who raped an 8-year-old girl in 2005 is back behind bars for a series of attacks on women in Westchester.

Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. says Akhim Blount has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for the spate of brutal attacks on women in Yonkers in September 2015.

In the first attack, he allegedly raped and robbed a 57-year-old woman on Belmont Avenue in Yonkers in September 2015.

Two days later, he allegedly robbed a second woman on Bronx River Road.

In a final attack, at the Cross County mall, he allegedly approached a woman in the parking lot and told her not to scream, officials say. The 22-year-old screamed anyway and was able to escape the man’s clutches. Police say Blount allegedly ran off with the woman’s purse and phone.

The woman contacted police and they were able to track Blount down using the stolen iPhone’s Find My Phone app, authorities say. He was arrested on Sept. 23.

Blount, who lived at a Valhalla shelter at the time of his arrest, was convicted of raping an 8-year-old girl in 2005. He was working at a hamburger restaurant in a Westchester mall at the time of his arrest, and then was released after completing most of a 10-year sentence.
