Man Wanted in Mass. Shooting Arrested in NYC

New York City police say a man wanted in connection with a fatal Massachusetts shooting where two officers were wounded has been arrested in Brooklyn.

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly says Trevin Smith surrendered peacefully to officers at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say Smith fled Massachusetts to family in Brooklyn after authorities there issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of being an accessory after the fact to a wild shootout at Bill Brown's House of Beauty, Barber Shop and Supply in Springfield, Mass.

A hearing will be held in New York on sending Smith to Springfield.

Springfield police accused Smith of helping gunman Tamik Kirkland flee after the shooting that killed one and wounded another. Police say Kirkland later exchanged gunfire with officers, wounding two. Kirkland was hospitalized.
