A 66-year-old man was struck and killed by garbage struck in Chelsea Friday afternoon, police said.

Thomas Berry of Staten Island was crossing 9th Avenue at West 29th Street when he fell into the rear wheels of a slow-moving dump truck that was going southbound on the avenue, police said. He was taken to Beth Israel Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The operator of the 2007 Mack truck, owned by a private santiation company, stayed on the scene. No criminality is suspected.
