Police Search for Suspect Who Stole Gold Necklace From Toddler in Queens

Police are looking for a man they say stole a gold necklace from a 3-year-old girl inside a Queens McDonald's.

The suspect followed the toddler and her mother into a McDonald's at 37-59 82 Street in Jackson Heights last Friday, officials say. The man allegedly waited for the girl to walk upstairs in the restaurant before following her and stealing her necklace.

Authorities describe the suspect as around 40 and balding.

People who live nearby and frequent the restaurant are shocked someone would rob a 3-year-old child.

"This neighborhood used to be such a nice neighborhood, family oriented, now you have all kinds of people coming this way," said Jessica Nieto.

And others think security needs to be stepped up.

"It's insane, I think they should have more security and check the place more often," said Jennifer Perez.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
