Man Shot in Attempted BK Livery Cab Robbery

The man was one of two passenger inside the livery cab

A 23-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot in an apparent attempted livery cab robbery early Saturday morning in Brooklyn, officials said.

The man was one of two passengers inside the livery cab, when at approximately 2 a.m., a gunman approached the car near Utica Avenue and Avenue M and demanded money from the driver, police said. The driver refused and a struggle ensued. 

At some point point during the altercation the gun went off, striking one of the passengers, police said. The passenger was reportedly shot in the head. He was taken to Kings County Hospital and remains in critical condition.The driver was not hurt.

Police say the suspected gunman was taken into custody. An investigation was ongoing Saturday morning.

The shooting took place just blocks away from another shooting at a house party where four people were shot early Saturday morning.
