NJ Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting 9-Year-Old Girl

The charges stem from two separate incidents in which Mark Annis allegedly abused the same child in August and December of last year

A 57-year-old New Jersey man has been accused of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl on two occasions last year.

Police say Mark Annis, of Gillette, was arrested after surrendering to the Long Hill Township Police Department on Wednesday. He was charged with three counts of sexual assault, one count of attempted sexual assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

The charges stem from two separate incidents in which Annis allegedly abused the same child in August and December of last year. One of the incidents happened in Rockaway Township and the other happened in Long Hill Township, authorities said.

A judge set bail at $125,000 under the condition Annis surrender his passport and has no contact with the victim, her family or any children under 13.

Information on Annis' attorney wasn't immediately available.
