A 35-year-old man will be sentenced Friday for the deadly crash on Long Island that killed a woman and badly injured her husband, prosecutors say.
Ryan Gurecki, pleaded guilty in March to aggravated vehicular homicide, one count of second-degree manslaughter, one count of driving while intoxicated and three counts of third-degree assault charges, according to prosecutors.
Last June, Gurecki struck a Ford Escape that was stopped at a red light on the Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station. Gurecki was allegedly speeding at the time of the crash, prosecutors had said.
Karen Holden, 56, was killed in the crash less than 10 minutes after she, her husband, adult son and dog left to visit another son serving in the armed forces in Virginia, according to a family friend.
Holden, her husband and son were all taken to Huntington Hospital after the crash. That is where Holden later died. The family's dog ran off after the crash, according to friends.
Holden's 57-year-old husband, who was driving, suffered a traumatic brain injury, according to prosecutors. Her 23-year-old son injured his back.

The crash site was less than a 10-minute drive from where the family lived.
Gurecki, of Lindenhurst, faces six to 18 years in prison when he is sentenced at 2 p.m, prosecutors said.
