Man Sentenced to Community Service for Shooting Woman with Arrow

A man who shot a 30-inch arrow through a fence, accidentally hitting a Bronx woman in the stomach, has pleaded guilty to acting with criminal negligence.

The Bronx district attorney's office says Eric Collins will be sentenced to 143 days of community service and three years probation under the terms of the plea deal Tuesday.

Collins was moving to a new apartment in Riverdale, and had the bow and arrow in a box. He fired it at a fence and it went through and ricocheted up, hitting Denise Delgado-Brown who was on the other side.

She said she first thought a baseball had slammed into her. She has since recovered.

Police said the carbon aluminum arrow was a type used for target practice and capable of traveling more than 300 yards.
