Douglas Reddish, 25, allegedly punched the man at Benny's Burritos

A man was arrested for assault after he punched someone who used racial slurs against him in a West Village restaurant, police said.

Douglas Reddish, 25, allegedly punched the man at around 6 p.m. Friday at Benny's Burritos, on the corner of Jane Street and Greenwich Avenue.

The victim, who was taken to Bellevue Hospital with head trauma, is in stable condition, officials said.

Witnesses described a bloody scene.

"I see the dude on the floor and he was just knocked out completely," said Robert Garcia, who works across the street. "There was blood all over the floor."

Garcia said he initially thought the victim was dead.

Information on a lawyer for Reddish was not immediately available.
