Man Paralyzed, 2 Hurt in Dramatic Shooting on New York City Playground

Two men are wanted in connection with a triple shooting at a public housing complex playground in East Harlem over the weekend, and police have released dramatic surveillance video of the chaos in hopes of bringing them into custody.

Police say the suspects walked up to a group of nine people, including a 7-year-old boy, in the NYCHA Carver Houses playground on 104th Street around 2 a.m. Sunday. They flashed guns and demanded the group's personal belongings.

When the attackers were denied, they opened fire, paralyzing a 19-year-old man and wounding another 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, authorities said. The two men then fled on foot, police said.

The surveillance video captures the entire shootout. At one point, one person is seen diving under a slide to seek cover from the hail of gunfire.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
