Man Offered $3.6 Million For Wrongful Conviction in Triple Homicide

A man whose New York City murder conviction was overturned after he spent over 20 years in prison is being offered $3.6 million from the state.

State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman approved the payout this week in Anthony Yarbough's case, the Daily News reported Saturday.

Yarbough and Sharrif Wilson were convicted of killing Yarbough's mother, his 12-year-old sister and another girl in 1992. A judge threw out their convictions in February based on new DNA evidence.

Schneiderman spokeswoman Melissa Grace said the attorney general has to ensure that people unjustly imprisoned get justice speedily.

Yarbough's lawyer, Zachary Margulis-Ohnuma, said the state money will help Yarbough continue to pursue a lawsuit against the city. In the meantime, Yarbough plans to keep working at a hotel, he said.

Wilson's lawyer declined to comment.
