Police shot and killed a man who allegedly pointed an air pistol that resembled a real gun at several officers in Queens Saturday night.

The shooting took place near Seneca and Gates avenues in Ridgewood at approximately 10:45 p.m.

According to police, a 42-year-old man with an extensive criminal record pointed the air gun at several officers after they had just arrested another man in a buy and bust operation. The officers fired six rounds at the man, striking him three times in the leg and torso.

The man, whose identity has not been released pending family notification, was taken to Wycoff Heights Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
