Man Thrown Off Boat in Explosion on Long Island: Police

A man was injured after being thrown from an exploding boat Sunday in Long Island.

The 43-year-old man was in Ceadog Creek in Freeport around 5:20 p.m. when his boat started to have engine trouble, Nassau County police said.

The boat was taken to the back of a home in Merrick, where the unidentified man tried to fix the engine and it exploded, police said.

He was thrown from the boat and suffered minor burns to his face, arms and legs. The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Merrick firefighters put out the blaze.
