Police are looking for a man who tried to lure two young Hudson Valley girls into his minivan by claiming he was their uncle.

Police in the city of Newburgh tell the Times Herald-Record of Middletown that the man approached the girls, ages 8 and 10, on Monday.

When one of the girls went inside to get an adult, the man told the other girl to get into the van, but she ran away.

Officers say an adult ran outside as the van left the neighborhood.

Police say the man appeared to be in his mid-30s to early 40s and was driving a newer model dark gray or blue minivan.
