Man's Head Struck by Subway as it Pulls Into Station: MTA

A man was struck in the head by a subway train that was pulling into the station Sunday, the MTA said. 

The man was walking on the platform at the 96th Street and Broadway station in Manhattan, the MTA said. 

He was struck in the head by a southbound 1 train that was coming into the station, the MTA said. 

He was conscious and alert as he was taken to the hospital, the MTA said. 

Firefighters confirmed that one person was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in serious condition. He was expected to survive his injuries.
