A Paterson, New Jersey, man died early Saturday from wounds suffered in a street shooting, the latest in a wave of violence that has rocked the city this month.

Police responding to an alert sent through the city's gunfire detection system found Gionicco Robinson just before 2 a.m. on North Main Street. The 20-year-old city man was taken to a hospital but died there a short time later.

A motive for the shooting has not been determined, said Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes. Authorities declined further comment on the shooting, citing the ongoing investigation.
