A man died of a gunshot wound to the head near a major transit hub in Jersey City late Thursday, police say.

The victim was shot at about 9:40 p.m. near the Hudson County Community College in the walkway between Sip Avenue and the PATH station.

Police said the victim died from the gunshot.

A heavy police presence was in the area. The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office is expected to take over the investigation.
