Man Dies After Jumping, Getting Electrocuted at Harlem Subway Station: MTA

A person was killed after jumping in front of a train in Harlem, halting service on several trains for about an hour, the MTA says.

The northbound 4 train was able to stop before hitting the man at the Harlem 125th Street station, but he came in contact with the third rail, was electrocuted and died, according to officials. It happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Two other northbound trains were stuck behind the 4 train for 50 minutes, the MTA said. Nobody was injured on the trains.

Con Edison had to temporarily cut the power and there were no evacuations, officials said.

The name of the man who died has not been released.
