Man Clings to Life After Shooting in Queens During Fireworks Show: Cops

A man is fighting for his life after being shot at least twice near the East River in Queens Tuesday night, as the Macy's fireworks show was going on nearby, police say.

The 35-year-old man was shot in the head and the back just after 9 p.m. in Astoria by a suspect who is still on the loose, according to police.

The victim and the suspect got into some sort of argument near Vernon Boulevard and 40th Avenue, which led to the man being shot, police said.

The man was taken to an area hospital, where he is in critical condition.

No description of the suspect was given but police said the investigation is still going on.
